Education
Real Estate Education – Each active licensee is required to complete a minimum of 12 hours of continuing real estate education every licensing year. The licensing year is from November 1 through October 31.
Property Management Education – New property management licensees are required to complete 12 hours of property management continuing education by the second renewal date following their original license issue date. Four (4) of the hours must consist of courses in property management trust accounts and must be taken before the first renewal date following original issuance of the license.
After satisfactorily completing NEW LICENSE CE (by second renewal), property manager licensees may satisfy continuing education courses approved by the board, whether designated as property management education or not.
Real Estate Broker Education - Each active Real Estate Broker licensee is required to complete a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education annually through courses approved by the Board.
Supervising Broker – A supervising broker endorsement will be issued to any broker completing an 8-hour approved supervising broker pre-endorsement course. Each licensing year, a supervising broker must complete 12 hours of continuing education. Four (4) of those hours must be education in the area of supervising broker continuing education.
Individuals who engage or conduct business as a real estate broker, real estate salesperson, property manager, or timeshare salesperson in Montana must apply to the Montana Board of Realty Regulation for licensure. The Board assures the basic requirements are met and evaluates the applicant for good repute and competency to transact business in a manner that safeguards the interests of the public. In the State of Montana, a person may not engage in or conduct business in the capacity of a Real Estate Salesperson until that person has received a license from the Montana Board of Realty Regulation.

Interested in being a Supervising Broker?
A Supervising Broker Endorsement is required to supervise salespeople in Montana. In order to obtain the Supervising Broker Endorsement, you must be licensed in Montana as a broker and complete an 8-hour Supervising Broker Pre-Endorsement Course. Course information can be found on the home page.
Once the Supervising Broker Endorsement is obtained, the licensee must take one 4-hour approved Supervising Broker course each licensing year to maintain their Supervising Broker Endorsement. Approved Supervising Broker maintenance courses will have the words "Supervising Broker" in the title of the course.
